Lorain Man Sentenced For Overdose Death
A Lorain man will spend his life in prison after selling fentanyl to a man that later overdosed on the narcotic, court records said.

LORAIN, OH — A Lorain man was sentenced to life in prison for selling fentanyl that caused the fatal overdose of a 23-year-old.
Russell Davis, 50, was sentenced to life in prison this week by U.S. District Judge Christopher A. Boyko. Davis was convicted last year on one count of distribution of fentanyl that resulted in a death.
“It is almost a daily occurrence to hear of a death due to heroin or fentanyl,” said FBI Acting Special Agent in Charge Robert Hughes. “Law enforcement will continue to work collaboratively to hold accountable those that bring this poison and destruction to our communities.”

Jacob Castro-White, 23, of Lorain, fatally overdosed in 2016, according to court records and trial testimony. Davis sold him fentanyl that led to his overdose, the Department of Justice said.
“Seeking long prison sentences for those who profit from selling the drugs killing our friends and neighbors is a crucial component to overcoming this epidemic that has cause so much pain and suffering,” U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman said in a statement. “The Lorain Police Department, FBI, the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office are all to be commended for their diligence in this case.”
