Lost Phone Lands Man In Police Custody In Avon Lake
A Good Samaritan turned in a phone he found on the street. The phone's owner went to pick it up and landed in police custody.
AVON LAKE, OH - A lost cell phone led to a man being taken into custody in Avon Lake last week.
According to Avon Lake police records obtained by Patch, on May 28, a Good Samaritan turned in a cell phone he found at the intersection of Legends Row and Legacy Pointe Parkway. The phone wasn't long in police custody before people began calling it.
Officers told one of the callers that the phone had been turned in to police after someone found it on the street. The caller said he would contact the phone owner and let them know where the phone was.

A Norwalk man arrived at the police station later to pick up his cell phone. While he was at the police department, officers learned the man had a warrant for his arrest from the Huron County Sheriff's Office.
Police contacted the sheriff's office and confirmed the man was still wanted. The Norwalk man was then taken into custody, according to police reports.

Officers drove the man to a rest stop on State Route 2 in Vermillion and handed him to the Huron County Sheriff's Office.
