Man Accused Of Murdering Family Arrested In Avon: Police

AVON, OH — A Virginia man wanted in connection with the death of his family was taken into custody in Avon on Saturday, police said.

Robert Raff (also known as Robert James Ralph), 53, is wanted on two charges of first-degree murder. Raff's parents were found dead in Chesterfield, Virginia over the weekend.

On Saturday, Avon Police were checking on a suspicious activity report when they found Raff. He was taken into custody and now awaits extradition.

Chesterfield Police said they found Jan and Victoria Ralph on Saturday afternoon, when officers were asked to perform a welfare check at the couple's home. When police got into the home, they found the bodies of 86-year-old Jan and, later, 79-year-old Victoria, WTVR reported.

Investigators then began searching for the couple's son. After Robert was located in Ohio, police obtained warrants for the 53-year-old, charging him with first-degree murder, WTVR said.

On Saturday evening, Avon Police saw a car on SR 83 driving without its lights on. There were also no license plates on the car. Officers stopped the car and arrested the driver, Robert Raff, WKYC noted.
