Matt Pawlikowski: One day until the Super Bowl
The day before the Super Bowl is a flurry of activity, especially for the media
Well itβs one day before the big game. The sun is finally out here in Dallas, and although it is only in the 40s, it feels like summer. Time to break out the shorts, OK, that was a joke there, but after what has been here all week, the roads are finally safe to go out on again and unlike back home this Texas sun is very warm.
Today is a pretty much a relaxing day, as the only thing going on is the announcement of the 2011 Professional Football Hall of fame class. That will take place at 7 p.m. this evening, but Iβm not assigned to it, so itβs some down time for me and many of my colleagues
Later on weΒ are going to do some sightseeing. We plan on hitting the Dallas Book Depository to check the museum out. There is also a nice aquarium in town that we are planning onΒ going too, and also going to look at the architecture of the various buildings here, as it is extremely unique and then heading to the NFL experience which is at the convention center. We are heading to the Twisted Root, itβs a burger joint that was on the Food Network, and it looked pretty enticing.

Later, we are going backΒ Β to Billie Bobβs for yet another VIP event, this time country music star Clay Walker.Β
Iβve already written around ten stories this week leading up to the Super Bowl, with a great one on Terry Bradshaw that ran this morning in the paper I cover the Steelers for.

Β In it, he talked about Ben Roethlisberger, as a few of us caught up with him. Surprisingly TB, who is now on FOX as a broadcaster said he hopes Ben Roethlisberger, wins five or more Super Bowls, which would make him the greatest QBs of all time. Bradshaw was funny, saying βif people asked how many yards I threw for in my career, it would be embarrassing. That itβs all about the Super Bowl and the amount of wins you have.β
Β He also brought up Turkey Jones and the slam onto the turf, for all you Browns fans, and had some fun with that.
So if youβre wondering about the social life that surround the Super Bowl, there are a number of them of course, but ironically many were not well attended as getting around until today has been rough. The Commissioners Ball is the classiest, and Martina McBride performed there, but one of the more fun events, is the Coors Light Super Bowl party.
Special thanks to the Pittsburgh reps who made it happen. This took place at World Famous Billie Bobβs. Uncle Kracker and Blake Shelton were the main acts, the appetizers were incredible, and guess what Browns fans; the future of the franchise was there, along with his wife, Colt McCoy. So was Josh Cribbs along with a number of other NFL standouts.
Had a chance to talk with Kansas City quarterback Matt Cassel a while. You talk about a class act. Wes Welker was also in the house, I was surprised at how small he was.
