May 17 Meeting Will Address Avon Lake Home Flooding
Since Feb. 28, dozens of homes have experienced flooding. Tomorrow's meeting is a chance to ask city leaders what can be done about it.
Avon Lake residents have had their fair share of flooding this year. On Feb. 28, heavy rains coupled with melting snow resulted in flooded properties, streets and basements. On April 25, the city was again hit by heavy rainfall and flooded basements. A meeting May 17 will address concerns.
In March, the city and (ALMU) held a meeting explaining why basements flooded, including overloaded sanitary sewer lines that caused water to come into home through drains and plumbing fixtures.
The presentation also cited overflowing sump pumps, clogs in the discharge and sump pump failures as reasons for the backup.
