Meats, Household Goods Worth $1,800 Stolen From Avon Lake Grocer

Police said video surveillance at Giant Eagle captured the incident.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police are looking for a suspect that stole nearly $1,800 of groceries from Giant Eagle. Investigators said that most of the stolen items were meat, but other household goods were also taken.

Video surveillance of the suspect, along with details on the stolen items, were provided to police by loss prevention officers. The thefts appear to have taken place in mid-October, according to police reports obtained by Patch.

Criminal Damaging, October 31 — On Halloween night, someone spray painted a Fairfield Road resident's house and car. The paint was removed quickly, police said.

Theft, November 3 — Two cell phones were stolen off a resident's front porch in mid-October. The resident reported the thefts to Sprint and then filed a police report with Avon Lake.

Disorderly Conduct, November 4 — An intoxicated man, outside of a Moore Road bar, was picked up by police after callers said he had fallen near the street. Avon Lake Fire were also sent to check on the man. The man was arrested and eventually released to a sober person.
