Meet Avon High's National Merit Semifinalist

One Avon High student has earned the prestigious distinction of being a National Merit Semifinalist.

AVON, OH β€” One Avon High student has been named a National Merit Semifinalists.

Senior Cole Emerine, 17, has been named a Semifinalist in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Already an accomplished student, Emerine also achieved a perfect score of 36 on his ACT.

More than 1.5 million students annually apply for National Merit Scholarships. When students take the PSAT they are automatically entered into the fray. Less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors become semifinalists.

Only 16,000 students earn National Merit Semifinalist distinctions annually. Semifinalists can become Finalists and compete for $30 million in scholarships.
