Meet Redwood Elementary's New Principal

AVON LAKE, OH — Redwood Elementary School's new principal, Lindsey Holeman, will take part in a meet-and-greet at Avon Lake Public Library on Thursday. A second meet-and-greet will be held Wednesday, August 14.

Both events will start at 7 p.m. and will feature stories for children. The event is being called, "If You Give a Principal a Cookie." Avon Lake Public Library is located at 32649 Electric Boulevard.

"The meet and greets are a way to be able to meet students and families prior to the school year beginning," Holeman said. "I wanted to have them somewhere outside of the school setting in order for students to feel more comfortable and the library was a very natural fit given the great collaboration between the schools and the library. I am really looking forward to getting to know all the students that I can and their families and begin building relationships with them."

Before being named principal of Redwood Elementary, Holeman was an intervention specialist at the high school level. She then became student services coordinator and then director. She most recently served as director of student services for the Perkins Local Schools.

"During my experiences, I developed a sincere passion for advocating for all students through developing capacity amongst staff and building relationships amongst all stakeholders," she told Patch in an email.

She noted that families are encouraged to stop by Redwood during the school year and see learning in action.

"I hope that Redwood family members and friends will feel free to stop by and see our students engaging in creative thinking and problem-solving in an environment where they feel loved, valued and comfortable. At the end of the day, our goal is to instill in each student a deep love for learning," she said.
