Candidate Statement:

I have a new vision and believe it is time to take Avon Lake in a new direction. Business as usual is no longer an option. My experience in other communities and studying government operations have given me a new vision to transform the way we manage government and a plan to take us in a new direction.    

• First, it is time change the way we approach government.  Revenues are shrinking and our current spending path is unsustainable. We can do more with less in government and I have a plan to prove it. Go to www.bernerformayor.com to read the plan.
• Second, Avon Lake government needs to work openly and productively for the citizens. I will bring back town hall meetings in each ward each year. I will listen to the concerns of the community and bring open and honest government. 
• Third, Avon Lake needs a mayor to lead in economic development. Seven of Avon Lake’s top employers moved to Avon Lake during my tenure as mayor. I will promote “Avon Lake First” to residents as their first choice for shopping and dining. 

I have achieved management successes in the private sector, in Avon Lake and with other government operations. My new vision and new direction is the plan Avon Lake needs now more than ever.
