Meijer Donates $10,000 To Avon Schools
The grocery chain marked its entrance into a new community with a show of generosity.

AVON, OH β Meijer marked its entrance into the Northeast Ohio market by opening three stores across the region, and making donations to several community organizations and schools.
The grocery chain donated $20,000 to Community Resource Services (which operates in Avon and Avon Lake) and $10,000 to Avon High School. Checks representing the donations were presented to local officials when the Meijer store had its ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday.
Similar donations were made to Stow High School and Mentor High School, along with Torchlight Youth Mentoring Alliance and Bulldog Bags. Meijer said it donates more than 6 percent of its net profit to charitable organizations each year. The grocery stores will also work with food banks and pantries to fight hunger in the community.
