Mercy Health - Lorain Earns 'A' For Hospital Safety
Mercy Health - Lorain received top marks in a survey of hospitals.
LORAIN, OH — Mercy Health - Lorain Hospital earned top marks in the fall Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
The hospital was given an 'A' for hospital safety. This is the second time in 2020 the hospital has earned an 'A' grade from Leapfrog.
“The last several months have truly tested the mission of our ministry. A mission that not only prevailed but has thrived through the incredible health care heroes that truly answered their call and cared for our community,” said Edwin Oley, president, Mercy Health – Lorain. “This award is for our associates, who earned this recognition by never wavering from our commitment to the highest-quality, compassionate care available in Lorain County.”

The Leapfrog Group is a national watchdog that offers regular assessments of hospital safety. It awards grades every six months, based on how well a hospital prevents medical errors and other harms to patients.
Leapfrog uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals. The Hospital Safety Grade's methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent. The results are free to the public.
