More Avon Lake Residents Test Positive For Coronavirus

AVON LAKE, OH — At least 14 Avon Lake residents have now tested positive for the new coronavirus, COVID-19, Mayor Greg Zilka announced. One woman being tested for the virus died while in the hospital.

"Our hearts go out to her family," Zilka said. There were 14 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Avon Lake, as of Monday evening. However, Zilka noted, there are other residents who have symptoms of the virus and have been told to quarantine themselves at home.

"Again, wash your hands, maintain a six foot social distance, cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze and limit your activity outside the home," Zilka reminded residents. "We will get through this."

Local parks remain open to the public, but courts and equipment have been closed to encourage social distancing. This means playgrounds, tennis and pickleball courts, dog parks, basketball courts and skate parks have been shuttered.
