Morphine Stolen From 88-Year-Old Nursing Home Patient: Avon Lake Police
The theft was discovered by the woman's nurse and social care worker. That and other incidents in this week's police blotter.

AVON LAKE, OH - The week of Christmas brought a bevy of crimes to Avon Lake. Someone stole prescription morphine from an 88-year-old woman at a group nursing home on Webber Road on Dec. 21. Packages were stolen from front porches, and a man punched a bartender on Christmas Eve.
Death Investigation, Dec. 15 - An 89-year-old woman was found dead in her Forest Hill Drive home.
Theft, Dec. 18 - In the spirit of desperation that sometimes comes with the holiday season, someone snatched a package from a Lake Road home's porch. The package was allegedly outside the house for about 30 minutes and was stolen in that time frame.

Theft, Dec. 21 - Morphine was stolen from a 88-year-old nursing home patient at a group home on Webber Road. The woman's nurse and social worker reported the theft.
Driving Under Suspension, Dec. 21 - In a stroke of terrible luck, a man driving with a suspended license had his car break down in front of the Avon Lake Department of Public Works. When police arrived, the man said he was having problems with his car battery. Officers ran the man's license, discovered the suspension, and cited the man.

Assault, Dec. 24 - The Third Base Bar, 118 Moore Rd., was the site of an assault on Christmas Eve. A male patron punched a female bartender in the head and was then arrested for assault.
Drug Possession, Dec. 24 - Callers reported a car driving erratically on Avon Belden Road. Police located the vehicle on Walker Road. The driver was found in possession of marijuana, was cited, and given a court date in Avon Lake Municipal Court.
