Mosquito Spraying Begins Monday in Avon
The Lorain County General Health District will be spraying the city for two days next week.

AVON, OH — There will a few less mosquitoes in Avon on Wednesday. The Lorain Cunty General Health District will be spraying for the bugs on Monday and Tuesday, July 16 and 17. No precautiouns are necessary for residents, the city of Avon said online.
The spraying will take place between 8:30 p.m. and midnight. Residents should expect to see spraying being done in their neighborhoods at that time.
The Ohio Department of Health notes that mosquitoes are most active during the region's warmest months: from May through October. The insects can spread diseases, like La Crosse and St. Louis encephalitis.

The ODH recommends residents apply insect repellent before spending time outdoors in the summer. When possible, wear an extra layer of clothing and choose light-colored attire.
