Mosquito Treatment Sprays Start Aug. 23 In Avon Lake
For two days, the Lorain County General Health District will spray areas in the city to prevent mosquitoes.

AVON LAKE, OH — Marked trucks from the Lorain County General Health District (LCGHD) will begin spraying treatments for mosquitoes throughout Avon Lake on Wednesday. The spray treatments will continue through Thursday night.
The LCGHD says the chemicals being sprayed require no preparation on the part of residents. The chemicals should be safe to people as well as beneficial insects, such as honey bees.
All of the treatments are weather dependent. The city said in a post on its website that rain or strong winds can disturb the spray treatments. The current forecast calls for a cloudy but dry evening on Wednesday. Thursday, however, may see rain throughout much of the day.
