Narcan Given To Avon Lake Man In Parking Lot

Police said several doses of Narcan were given to an unconscious Avon Lake man.

WESTLAKE, OH — A 36-year-old Avon Lake man may have overdosed in Westlake last week, police announced.

At 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 24, a commotion broke out in the parking lot of the BP Gas Station at Columbia and Detroit Roads. A woman in the lot was screaming that her son was having a medical issue. A patrolling officer noticed the mayhem and went to help.

The woman's son, a 36-year-old from Avon Lake, was unconscious in driver's seat of a car. He was sweating and having trouble breathing, police said.

The officer gave the man several doses of Narcan, an anti-overdose drug. An ambulance arrived and took the man to St. John Medical Center. The man regained consciousness at the hospital and spoke to police later that night.

The mother said she had been tracking her son using GPS on his phone because she had been unable to contact him.

Officers searched the man's car and found numerous pills and drug paraphernalia, a Westlake police spokesperson said.
