Narcan Helps Overdosing Woman In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — An Avon Lake woman needed two doses of an anti-overdose drug after she overdosed on heroin, a caller told the Lorain County Emergency Service on July 26.

A man called the Lorain County Emergency Service line (911) a little after 3 p.m. He said his girlfriend was overdosing on heroin at a home on Parkwood Drive in Avon Lake.

The man gave his girlfriend two doses of Narcan, an anti-overdose drug designed specifically for heroin overdoses. The drug worked, helping the woman become coherent prior to the arrival of fire and police units from Avon Lake.

When officers arrived the woman, a 21-year-old from Avon Lake, was able to speak clearly and appeared to be healthy. She refused to be taken to the hospital and refused treatment from Avon Lake paramedics.

Police said they found no drug paraphernalia in the home.
