Neighbor Helps Save Elderly Avon Lake Man

AVON LAKE, OH — Robert Frost didn't know what he was talking about. Great neighbors occasionally have to check in on one another. One Avon Lake resident helped save another this past week simply by checking-in. Read on for more information on that incident and others from the past week.

Assisting Another Agency, June 3 - Police were dispatched to a residence on Avon Belden Road to assist Avon Lake Fire. A woman at the residence was reporting that she had been assaulted in Vermillion. She was transported to the Cleveland Clinic.

Traffic Complaint, June 4 - A patrolling officer stopped a car on Miller Road near Walker Road. The driver had a suspended license and had an arrest warrant through Elyria. She was arrested and transported to Elyria.

Fraud, June 7 - A Beachwood Avenue resident reported that someone used their debit card to make purchases at a drug store in Columbus.

Property Damage, June 7 - A vehicle carrying building supplies reportedly damaged another vehicle travelling on Webber Road, bringing police to the scene. Both drivers exchanged information and a report was taken.

Assisting Another Agency, June 7 - An elderly man on Forest Hill fell and injured himself. His injury was discovered when a neighbor tried to check on him and the man was unable to come to the door but was banging on a wall. Avon Lake firefighters busted down the door and entered the home. The man was taken to Cleveland Clinic.

Fraud, June 7 - FedEx delivered a package to an Avon Lake resident last week. One problem though, the resident never ordered the package. Someone had fraudulently used the resident's debit card to purchase the package.
