New Year's Day Car Crash Gets 2 Cited In Avon Lake

Police said a passenger in a crashed car got disruptive and refused to listen to police during the early morning hours of Jan. 1.

AVON LAKE, OH — Two women were cited after a car accident in the early morning of New Year's Day. Police said the driver didn't have control of her car, which led to the crash on Lake Road. It was the driver's passenger that got into real trouble, though.

While officers spoke with the driver about the accident, the passenger, a Sheffield Lake woman, began to raise a ruckus. Police suspected she was intoxicated and asked her to calm down. She didn't.

Police cited the woman for persistent disorderly conduct and then drove her and the driver to their home in Sheffield Lake. That could not have been how they pictured starting 2019.
