Ohio Man Pulled From Lake Erie Dies

AVON LAKE, OH — A man pulled from Lake Erie last week has died, according to reports. The man was found near Veteran's Memorial Park in Avon Lake on July 29.

Jonathan Luke Sewell, 31, from Wooster, was pulled from the lake last Monday afternoon. An Avon Lake resident spotted Sewell, called 911 and told authorities Sewell wasn't breathing, according to police records.

When Avon Lake police arrived, two life guards were giving Sewell CPR. Avon Lake paramedics then took Sewell to St. John Westshore Hospital in Westlake.

Sewell died last Thursday, August 1, at St. John's, six days after he was pulled from the lake. His memorial service will be held on Friday, according to his obituary on the Daily Record.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has not issued an official cause of death for Sewell.
