One District, One Book Program Kicks-Off In Avon Lake

All kindergarten through fourth grade students in the district will now be reading "The Mouse and Motorcycle."

AVON LAKE, OH — Schools across the Avon Lake City School District, once a year, all read the same book at the same time. This year the book is "The Mouse and Motorcycle." The One District, One Book: Reading as a Community initiative kicked-off Thursday.

Every student, from kindergarten to fourth grade, got their own copy of the book on Thursday, along with an activity pack with a two-week reading calendar, trivia questions and community game card. Students are supposed to read the book each night, as a family, then turn in trivia questions at school based on the calendar.

The students are also, as a family, meant to visit a local business, which will be listed in the trivia game. Students can take their provided game board and they'll get extra chances to win prizes during the program.
