Paramedics Take Sleeping, Impaired Driver To Hospital In Avon

Officers on patrol spotted a running car in the parking lot and a woman passed out on the steering wheel.

AVON LAKE, OH — A 26-year-old North Olmsted woman was taken to a local hospital after she was found passed out behind the wheel of her car on Dec. 14. The woman now faces charges for operating a vehicle impaired.

Police spotted a car in the Drug Mart Plaza with its light on at about 1:30 a.m. Officers went to the car and saw the driver slumped over the steering wheel. They tried to wake her, but couldn't do it. Avon Lake Paramedics were called to the scene and officers continued to try and wake the woman. Eventually, the 26-year-old stirred but she was disoriented, according to police records.

Paramedics took the woman to Avon University Hospital for treatment. The woman has since been charged with operating a vehicle impaired. Police did not indicate what substance the woman may have been on.
