Pickup Truck Crashes Into Bushes Outside Avon Lake Funeral Home
Police said the driver smelled of alcohol and admitted to drinking and driving.
AVON LAKE, OH — A 58-year-old man was taken into custody after he crashed his pickup truck into the bushes outside a funeral home in Avon Lake, according to police records.
On Aug. 7, callers reported there had been a car accident outside Busch Funeral Home, near the intersection of Electric Boulevard and SR 83. When officers arrived, they found found an F150 truck with a front wheel torn off, stopped in the bushes outside the building.
Glass and other debris was scattered in the roadway, police said. The truck had sustained serious damage to its front and side.

The airbags in the F150 had deployed and the driver was stuck inside the cabin. Avon Lake firefighters had to extricate the 58-year-old from the truck. He had minor cuts on his arms, but appeared otherwise unhurt, police said.
He refused to be taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver smelled of alcohol, according to police reports, and admitted to drinking and driving. However, he refused to take a breath test. He was taken into custody and driven to Avon Lake police department.
The 58-year-old is now accused of operating a vehicle impaired, failure to control a vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. His truck was towed to an impound lot.
The man made his first appearance in Avon Lake Municipal Court this week and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
