Police Bust 13 People At Wildberry Pool In Avon Lake

Officers had to breakup two different gatherings at the pool over two weeks.

AVON LAKE, OH — The Wildberry pool was the site of a few police incidents this month. Eight people were busted swimming in the pool on Independence Day. Then five people were caught smoking marijuana in the parking lot, police said.

Fraud, July 3 — Someone attempted to use an Avon Lake resident's debit card. The bank alerted the resident to the fraudulent transaction. The resident filed a report with police.

Trespassing, July 4 — Eight people were caught swimming in the Wildberry pool after hours. Police found seven adults and one juvenile inside the fenced-in pool area. None of the eight people lived in the Wildberry development. The eight people were identified, the adults were sent on their way and the juvenile was taken to the police station where she was picked up by her mother.

Theft, July 8 — An 11-year-old's Schwinn retro bicycle was stolen out of an Avon Lake resident's yard. The resident estimates the time of the theft was between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. on July 8. There are no suspects yet.

Traffic Violation, July 11 — Police stopped a Ford F-350 for multiple equipment violations. The driver had a suspended license and multiple felony warrants for his arrest.

Identity Theft, July 13 — Someone impersonated an Avon Lake resident and took a loan out in their name.

Identity Theft, July 13 — Multiple accounts were either opened, or started to be opened, in an Avon Lake resident's name. However, none of the accounts were actually opened by the resident. The requests were denied by the resident's lending institutions.

Drug Investigation, July 13 — Callers reported a suspicious vehicle near the Wildberry pool at 10:30 p.m. Officers found five people inside — four adults, one juvenile — and they were all smoking marijuana, police said. The four adults were issued citations for possession of marijuana. The juvenile was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Criminal Damaging, July 16 — The small back window on an F-250 pickup truck was broken out overnight. The truck was parked on a tree lawn, facing north, during the evening. Nothing was missing from the truck and it's not clear how the window was broken, police said.
