Driver Killed In Early Morning Lorain County Crash
A 25-year-old Elyria driver was killed when they hit a utility pole in Carlisle Township.

CARLISLE TOWNSHIP, OH — A 25-year-old Elyria woman was killed when she drove her car into a utility pole on Thursday morning. Alcohol and drug use may have played a role in the crash, according to authorities.
The driver, Angel McCartney, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told Fox 8. The accident remains under investigation.
Nearly 75 homes in Lorain County were without power Thursday morning after the accident. FirstEnergy said power should be restored by 10 a.m., but additional crews have been called to the scene to aid the restoration efforts. The power has been out since before 7 a.m., according to reports.

The utility pole crash happened in Carlisle Township, in the 2000 block of West River Road, the Ohio State Highway Patrol told Fox 8. Power lines were downed as a result of the accident.
West River Road was closed by authorities investigating the crash. The Lorain County Coroner was on the scene.
