Racial Incident In Avon Lake?

AVON LAKE, OH — There was a reported racially-motivated incident in Avon Lake last week. A woman handing out door hangers was screamed at and had something thrown at her. It's unclear if the suspect is an Avon Lake man.

Suspicious Activity, Oct. 4 — Police received a call from the principal of Learwood Middle School after students were discovered to have inappropriate photos on their phones. Parents were contacted and the situation was resolved.

Theft, Oct. 5 — Officers were called to a residence on Parkside Dr. after the homeowner discovered some Visa gift cards were missing. A cleaning company had been in the house the previous week. The gift cards were cancelled.

Disorderly Conduct, Oct. 9 — While putting out door hangers in the area of Moorewood Rd. and Walker Rd., a Maple Heights woman was accosted by a man. The man reportedly yelled racial slurs at the woman and then threw something at her. Neighbors did not see the incident. The suspect in the incident has not yet been identified.

Criminal Damaging, Oct. 10 — A caller reported damage to their front story window. A silver BB was found in the mulch in front of the caller's home. There was more damage done to the side of the house, but police believe it may have been caused by a rock.

Breaking and Entering, Oct. 10 — Multiple flatscreen TVs were stolen from Kenilworth 2 at the Drug Mart Plaza. Someone broke into the building, smashing a glass side door. There are no witnesses of the crime.

Warrant Service, Oct. 11 — An officer on patrol stopped a Ford pickup truck for failing to use a turn signal. The driver was wanted by the Lorain County Sheriff's Office and was taken into custody.
