Reminder: 'Hidden in Plain Sight' Coming to Avon Tonight

AVON, OH - Tonight is the night. The Avon Police Department and Avon High School are bringing in a travelling exhibit for parents called "Hidden in Plain Sight." The message of the exhibit? Looks can be deceiving.

The exhibit, created by the Bath and Copley Police Departments, resembles the bedroom of an average American teenager. However, amidst the clutter of clothing scattered on the floor, school supplies on a desk and personal care products on a vanity, there are more than 150 items that can actually be signals that a young person is involved in risky, dangerous, or illegal activity.

“Hidden in Plain Sight” will be on display at Avon High School Auditorium tonight. Doors open for browsing at 6 p.m. The exhibit is open to adults only. There is no charge for admittance, but donations to keep the program going will be accepted. If you cannot arrive at the designated start time, police say you can join the program when you're available.

The audience is encouraged to explore and interact with items in the display which may be indicative that a teenager is involved in substance abuse, underage drinking, eating disorders, sexual activity and more.
