Retired K-9 Officer Dies, Lorain County Sheriff's Office Says
Former Lorain County Sheriff's K-9 Ozzy died last week after battling an auto immune illness.
LORAIN, OH — Former Lorain County Sheriff's Office K-9 Ozzy died on Jan. 29. The dog had been battling an auto immune illness, according to authorities.
Ozzy was a certified dual purpose patrol K-9. He worked with Sgt. Bryan Barnes from 2008 until his retirement in 2012.
"Ozzy was an amazing partner, friend, protector, and a family member in the Barnes household. Ozzy will be dearly missed, but, never forgotten," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

Ozzy was 12 years old. His birthday was in April.
