Good morning, neighbors! It's me again, Carla Varner, your host of the Avon-Avon Lake Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy and cooler. High: 51 Low: 42.

Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:

  1. Avon Lake Fire Chief Jeremy Betsa has a new plan for a fire station and believes that the City Council will approve it. Previously the Council asked the department to scale back on the size and cost. Betsa said that the new plan includes a new building but other things were cut out. (cleveland.com)
  2. 27-year-old Jared Jones was arrested by the Lorain Police Narcotics Unit for drug trafficking. At the time of his arrest, Jones was in possession of over 10 grams of suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine and 20 additional unknown pills. Police said that the investigation is ongoing and Jones could face additional charges. (Cleveland 19)
  3. Habitat for Humanity International has disaffiliated itself from the Lorain County Habitat for Humanity due to accusations that the local organization's leadership has misused the nonprofit's money. Howard Lane, the Lorain County Habitat Board's attorney, said that he was "surprised and disappointed" by the decision. Lane added that the board is reviewing options for going forward.
