Screen Door Destroyed During Vandalism In Avon Lake
A resident reported that a $300 screen door was wrecked by a group of teenagers.
AVON LAKE, OH — A home's plexiglass screen door was shattered by a group of teenagers, according to Avon Lake police reports.
A resident on Westwind Drive contacted police on Nov. 14 and told officers someone had broken her screen door. She said a group of teenagers have been banging on her front and back doors for weeks.
The "ding dong ditching" began in the summer and has continued every weekend, the resident told police. The resident has seen a black SUV parked down the street whenever the knocking begins.

Officers searched the area for both the juveniles and the SUV but did not find either.
The screen door is valued at approximately $300, according to police records.

The next night, the teenage suspects returned and banged on the house's doors again. This time, police were able to take one of the teenagers into custody.
An Avon Lake police spokesperson said no charges have yet been filed in the case.
