Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Lorain County

The National Weather Service said it spotted a storm with 70 mph winds moving toward Lorain County.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lorain County. Residents are being advised to take precautions to ensure their safety.

At 7:30 a.m., the National Weather Service saw severe thunderstorms developing along a six-mile line from Sandusky to Prospect. The storms are moving east at 60 mph.

Winds of up to 70 mph are expected to hit Lorain County. That could mean damage to roofs, trees, outbuildings and mobile homes. Hail is possible during the storms, the National Weather Service said.

"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building," the National Weather Service warned.

The thunderstorms could form this morning, but there is a chance of additional storms throughout the afternoon. "There is an isolated threat of severe weather with thunderstorms this afternoon and evening," the National Weather Service said.
