Shop Owner Stops Liquor Theft At Avon Lake Store
Police records said a store owner followed two men outside his store after they stole a bottle of bourbon.
AVON LAKE, OH — Two 25-year-olds tried to steal alcohol from an Avon Lake store last week, according to police records. The duo were foiled when the store owner confronted them in the parking lot.
On August 12, at 6:30 p.m., two 25-year-olds from Avon Lake walked into Avon Lake Carry Out & Liquor on Lake Road. One of the men picked up a bottle of bourbon from the front counter and then left the store without paying for it, police records said.
The owner of the store followed the men outside and confronted them. The bottle of bourbon was returned, but the men then ran off.

Police records said one of the men was later identified and charged with minor misdemeanor theft.
On August 22, the man appeared in court and pleaded no contest to the charges. He was fined $150, Avon Lake Municipal Court records show.
