Shred Confidential Documents at Avon Lake Library

Community shred event is Sept. 29 in library parking lot. Also, young adult readers, historic homes and stargazing.

Community Shred Day

A free community shred event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon in the southwest section of the Avon Lake Public Library parking lot.  Each household may bring up to five standard copy paper boxes or five grocery size bags of personal, confidential documents for secure cross-cut shredding by Shredding Network.

Young adults, ages 11-16, are invited to join the new Teen Advisory Group (TAG).  Future projects include: planning YA events, providing suggestions for new YA materials, special TAG-only events and more.  Membership to TAG is by application only and forms may be picked up at the YA desk.  Please return form to YA desk by Sept. 30.  TAG’s first meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 2 at, 3:30 pm.

Evening with the Stars

On Monday nights with clear skies in October, we will set up our telescope outside the west end of the library across from the tennis courts. Stop by from 8 to 8:45 p.m. and take a look at whatever interesting stars or planets are visible.
