Snapped Utility Pole Caused Weekend Power Outages In Avon Lake
Part of Jaycox Road was closed for much of the weekend while crews tried to restore power.

AVON LAKE, OH — Parts of Avon Lake were without power for much of the weekend. That's because a utility pole broke on Saturday and fell to the ground, making part of Jaycox Road briefly impassable and leaving chunks of the city in the dark.
The utility pole was located on Jaycox, between Walker Road and Hickory Lane. The pole snapped off at the top before tumbling to the asphalt.
Crews from First Energy were working throughout the weekend to fix the utility pole and restore power to pockets of Avon Lake. On Sunday, Jaycox Road reopened and electricity was restored.

Residents are still being asked to use caution in the area. Low hanging telecommunications and cable lines still needed to be attached on Sunday, the city's police department said. There are still about 115 FirstEnergy Avon Lake customers without power on Monday afternoon.
Avon Lake Police shared photographs of the utility pole's destruction on social media.
