Snow Parking Bans In Avon, Avon Lake, What's The Law?
When will snow parking bans kick-in locally? Find out.

AVON, OH — Anywhere from 4 to 10 inches of snow could fall on Saturday, according to current projections. Before the storm hits, here's a refresher on what the snow parking laws are in Avon and Avon Lake.
In Avon, a local municipal emergency goes into effect whenever it has snowed 2 or more inches in 24 hours. City officials will make an announcement, proclaiming the emergency, and may, at that time, ban all parking on city streets.
A snow parking ban order was issued Friday afternoon. The ban will be in place from noon on Saturday until the city's safety director decides the situation has improved.

In Avon Lake, there are similar conditions for snow parking bans to be issued. Two inches or more of snow must fall within a 24 hour period, and then city officials must issue a snow parking ban. That ban can bar parking on any specified street. There are also designated no parking in snow emergency signs on certain streets.
Avon Lake Police can also remove any car parked on the street that is deemed to be a hazard. Lieutenant Scott Fishburn said that unless there is a time-sensitive crisis being dealt with, officers would typically seek out the owner or driver of the car and ask them to move it.
