Solicitor Attacked By Dog In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — For at least the third time in a month, Avon Lake Police had to deal with a loose dog incident. This time, a man going door-to-door on Electric Blvd. reported being attacked by a canine.

Property Damage, Oct. 2 — While driving through a construction area, a man's red mustang was damaged. The incident reportedly happened five days prior to the man filing a police complaint.

Fraud, Oct. 3 — Two fake $50 bills were used at Giant Eagle, 31990 Walker Rd. Police filed a report on it.

Traffic Complaint, Oct. 5 — Police stopped a pickup truck hauling a trailer on Moore Road. The truck didn't have a license plate. The driver of the truck had a license that had been suspended nine times and was wanted by the Lorain County Sheriff for contempt of court. Officers arrested the driver and the vehicle was towed.

Animal Complaint, Oct. 7 — A solicitor that was working Electric Blvd. came to Avon Lake Police Station to report that he was bitten by a dog while on his route. He had minor cuts and bruises on his arms and stomach. He declined medical attention. Police spoke with the dog's owners and determined it was up-to-date on its medical records.

Death Investigation, Oct. 8 — Police were called to a home on Jaycox Road where they found a 43-year-old man dead. The coroner's office was contacted and will look into the death.

Theft, Oct. 8 — Someone stole an Avon Lake resident's motorcycle. The owner of the bike said her daughter and her boyfriend were using the motorcycle. However, the boyfriend took the bike and was using it without consent. Police couldn't locate the boyfriend and the vehicle has been entered into LEADS.
