It’s Special Election Day and all Avon Lake voters have the opportunity to vote on four Issues, Tuesday, Aug. 7. Below is the ballot language for each issue, plus a link explaining each item.

PROPOSED TAX LEVY (REPLACEMENT AND INCREASE)

A replacement of 1.25 mills of an existing levy and an increase of 0.75 mill to constitute a tax for the benefit of the City of Avon Lake for the purpose of providing and maintaining ambulance, paramedic and emergency medical services operated by the fire department at a rate not exceeding 2 mills for each one dollar of valuation, which amounts to $0.20 for each one hundred dollars of valuation, for 3 years, commencing in 2012, first due in calendar year 2013.

Shall Chapter XII, Section 62 of the Charter of Avon Lake, Ohio be amended to provide for a primary election in the event that three or more candidates for an office, other than the office of council at large or the office of member of the Board of Municipal Utilities, file petitions for an office?
