State Increases Job Program Funding At Lorain Community College
The additional money will be used to support the Micro-Electro Mechanical Systems Bachelor's degree program.
LORAIN, OH - Lorain County Community College will receive an additional $21,906 in state funding to support the Micro-Electro Mechnical Systems (MEMS) Associates and Bachelor's degree programs.
State Representative Joe Miller, from Amherst, announced the state's release of additional monies to the college this week. He said the funds would be used to purchase new equipment for the MEMS program.
“Lorain County Community College is at the forefront of workforce development for in-demand fields, and this new equipment continues that tradition,” Miller said. “I’m excited to see the state investing in programs that will help LCCC prepare students from our region for jobs in a high-tech 21st century economy.”

The MEMS program will purchase static-dissipative lab benches and storage drawers for students to use. MEMS technology is currently used in construction of many products, like ink jet printers, pressure sensors and infrared devices.
The state's Controlling Board approved the increase in funds.
