Suspect Lies To Avon Lake Police, Arrested Anyways

A routine traffic stop ended with citations and other police departments getting involved.

AVON LAKE, OH — During a routine traffic stop on Walker Road, Avon Lake Police spoke to a woman who lied about her identity. The woman had a suspended license and warrants for her arrest with two law enforcement agencies. Avon Lake Police figured out the woman's actual name and cited her for obstructing justice before transferring her to another police department.

Disturbance, Nov. 9 — A Lorain man came into the Avon Lake Police Station to file an assault complaint. The man told officers that his ankle was injured during a disturbance. The case was given to the city prosecutor, who decided not to pursue charges.

Suspicious Activity, Nov. 9 — A little before 9 p.m., a business owner on Moore Road contacted police about a suspicious vehicle hanging around in his parking lot. Officers investigated and the incident has been passed onto the Lorain County Juvenile Court for possible prosecution.

Disturbance, Nov. 11 — Three men got into a scrap outside the Somerset Apartments. As a result of the fight, all of the men had minor injuries. One of the three wanted to press charges against the other two men. The prosecutor will review the incident.

Obstructing, Nov. 13 — During a traffic stop, a woman provided false information to police. Officers stopped a 1992 Honda Accord for a licensing violation. The driver, a Lorain woman, gave a false identity to police. She was likely trying to avoid the fact that she had a suspended license and warrants for her arrest from Lorain Police and the Lorain County Sheriffs. The woman was cited for her traffic violations and transferred into Lorain Police's custody.

Animal Complaint, Nov. 14 — Police were sent to a home on Yoder Boulevard for reports of a barking dog. The owner of the animals was cited and will appear in court next week.
