The suspect was found in an abandoned home, the Erie County's Sheriff's Office said.

VERMILION, OH — The person accused of hitting a gas meter outside a home on Thursday, causing it to explode, has been arrested, police said.

The man was found inside a vacant home near State Route 60, police said. The house was about one mile away from the site of the explosion, cleveland.com reported.

No one was hurt in the home explosion, according to authorities. The residents were able to escape, with their dogs, before the house went up in flames. However, the dogs briefly escaped and were on the lam during the dangerous cold on Thursday. Luckily, both animals were located and returned to the residents.
