Suspicious Men Possibly Trespassing At Avon Lake Schools

AVON LAKE, OH — A pair of teenager got into the Troy Intermediate School and stole a purse during the last week of November, police reports say. The purse was later recovered on a wooded trail off Belmar Avenue, but some of the contents were missing, the victim told Patch.

The teenager got into the school through an unlocked door. He got into the facility at about 5:30 p.m. and then reportedly snatched the woman's purse. The victim said her credit cards were then used at a local drugstore.

The victim further told Patch that one of the suspects was serving an in-school suspension at the time of the theft.

A spokesperson for Avon Lake Police said one of the suspects has been identified and charges are being pursued against him.

Then, on Dec. 12, a 9-year-old student at Westview Elementary School reported a suspicious man loitering around the school. The spokesperson said officers reviewed security footage from the time of the incident and now believe the child made up the story.

Officers said they were working with a school resource officer to investigate the nature of the incident.
