SUV Hits Avon Lake Home, Driver Taken Into Custody

Police said the driver has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

AVON LAKE, OH — Just before 1 a.m. on Saturday, a man crashed his SUV into the corner of an Avon Lake home. Police said no one was hurt in the crash.

The accident happened at 12:54 a.m. on Feb. 1, according to police records. Officers were called to a house near the intersection of Electric Boulevard and Jaycox Road. When they arrived, they found a maroon SUV had driven over a front lawn and into the side of the home.

The SUV did not push into the house, but did take off siding and damage bricks, based on crime scene photographs seen by Patch.

The driver of the SUV was a 52-year-old Avon Lake man. Police said the man has been charged with operating a vehicle impaired. The driver pleaded not guilty to the charges in Avon Lake Municipal Court this week.

According to court records, the driver's bond was set at $1,000. Pre-trial for the case will happen Feb. 20.
