Taco Bell Employees Help Catch Drunk Driver In Avon Lake

Staffers called police and said there was a drunk woman in their drive-thru line.

AVON LAKE, OH — Taco Bell employees helped police catch a drunk driver recently.

At about 10:30 p.m. on October 17, staffers at the fast food restaurant called the Avon Lake Police Department. They said a woman in their drive-thru line was intoxicated.

Officers rushed to the scene and saw the woman's silver Jeep Compass as it pulled onto Avon Belden Road. They stopped the car after they saw the woman commit multiple traffic violations, including drifting out of her marked lane.

Police spoke with the woman, a 28-year-old from Avon Lake, and then put her through a series of field sobriety tests. She was then arrested and booked without incident, police records show.

The woman was issued citations for operating a vehicle impaired and driving in marked lanes. She was given a mandatory court date for the next day. The woman pleaded no contest to the charges, court records show.
