Teen Knocked Out During Assault At Bleser Park, Police Say

Avon Lake police said a 15-year-old was knocked unconscious after he tried to stop a group of rock throwers from harassing his friend.

AVON LAKE, OH — At 6 p.m. on Monday, police were flagged down at Bleser Park. Witnesses told officers a teenager appeared to have been knocked out at the basketball courts.

Two Avon Lake police officers went to the courts. They found a 15-year-old sitting on the bleachers, surrounded by his friends.

The witnesses told police the 15-year-old was playing basketball when a group of teenagers began throwing rocks at the players. The 15-year-old tried to stand up to one of the rock throwers — a 14-year-old — and the two teenagers began fighting.

The 14-year-old then kicked the 15-year-old in the head and ran off, police records indicate. The 15-year-old was briefly unconscious.

Police said the 14-year-old was not in Bleser Park when officers arrived. However, witnesses were able to identify the 14-year-old.

Police said the 14-year-old faces charges for assault.
