Teens Busted Smoking Weed, Driving In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — A patrolling officer spotted a car owned by a man wanted for a felony in another city driving north on Miller Road. The cop pulled the man's car over and could immediately smell the acrid stench of burnt marijuana.

As the officer approached the grey Honda, he saw three men inside. The driver was not the car owner, police said, but a 19-year-old from Avon Lake. He was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug abuse instruments.

One of the passengers, a 17-year-old from Westlake, was taken by to the Avon Lake Police Department. Officers called his mother and had him picked up. He was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said.

The 19-year-old pleaded no contest to the charges on Dec. 7, according to Avon Lake Municipal Court records. A review hearing will be held later this month, based on the court docket. The narcotics confiscated from the man are currently in police custody, the court said.
