Thieves Targeting Leaf Blowers?: Avon Lake Police Blotter

Two leaf blowers were stolen from residents in the past week.

AVON LAKE, OH - Police are searching for a pair of leaf blowers that were stolen from resident's during the past week. One leaf blower was in an unlocked shed and the other was in an unattached garage. Keep your gardening and lawn care equipment under lock.

Here are the rest of the week's incidents:

Suspicious Activity, Oct. 10 - An Avon Lake man reported that someone was calling his friends claiming to be him. The man's friends said they knew it wasn't him making the calls.

Traffic Violation, Oct. 11 - Officers attempted to stop an Avon Lake woman for speeding in a 35 mph zone. However, the woman didn't stop when officers threw on their lights, instead pulling into a driveway on Hickory Lane. The woman was going 52 mph in the 35 mph zone.

Theft, Oct. 13 - A resident on Chatham Drive reported that someone stole his backpack leaf blower from his unlocked shed. The woman said she remembered seeing the leaf blower in the shed approximately two weeks ago.

Theft, Oct. 14 - Someone cut the catalytic converter out of an Avon Lake man's truck. The truck was parked at Premier Hardwood Floors and the theft occurred overnight. Police say there is no video of the incident.

Suspicious Activity, Oct. 14 - Officers saw a suspicious vehicle parked behind a Giant Eagle. Two people were inside the car. Officers said there was a strong smell of burnt marijuana coming from the car and there was an open container of alcohol in plain view. The passenger in the front seat was cited for consuming in a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana.

Theft, Oct. 15 - A resident reported that their leaf blower was stolen from their unattached garage.
