Two Bucks Takes One Step Forward With Middleburg Heights Bar

Owner Cory Rowland sees a future in franchising Two Bucks brand

There’s an old cliché that says, “The buck stops here,” but if you ask general manager and co-owner Cory Rowland, he and his crew have no intentions of stopping.

As a matter of fact, they’re getting ready to pass the buck all the way to Middleburg Heights.

The new Two Bucks location, tentatively scheduled to open this October, will be located at 18336 Bagley Road in the former location of Groucho’s Saloon.

Rowland said that the interior demolition has been completed and contractors are now waiting for city approval to begin remodeling.

While the concept remains the same, Rowland said that the Middleburg Heights location will have its own unique identity.

“It’s got more of a bar feel to it than our Avon location, and the layout seems to flow better,” he added.

Like its predecessor, the new location will feature an open-air, outdoor dining area with its own personal flair.

Rowland said that that area will be more of a sidewalk patio with bi-folding doors rather than the Avon location’s covered slab patio and garage door. The new venue will also include a lounge area for guests that will include a flat-screen television, electric fireplace, and leather couches.

Not even in their second year in business, Rowland -- along with his two cousins and business partners Eric and Sean Nugent -- have their sights set on expanding not only within the state of Ohio, but nationwide.

“We’ve raised a lot of interest across the country with potential franchisees,” said Rowland. “We have had interested parties contact us from Texas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia so it has been encouraging. We are confident in the model, and we believe that it can succeed any where it goes."

With the concept of customer-friendly pricing (most beers, wines and drinks are $2) and atmosphere, the Two Bucks brand has what Rowland believes is a solid plan for the future.

“We pride ourselves in offering a quality product at an affordable price, and it doesn’t stop at the product,” he said. “We pride ourselves on service and cleanliness as well, and we want to create the best environment for our customers with the hopes that they will spread the word."

Rowland also credits the entire staff, including his head chef Brian McNeff and human resources manager Kas Firdman, for the success they have achieved in such a short period of time.

“This opportunity wouldn’t be possible without the great staff and employees we have here," her said. "From top to bottom, I’m grateful for each and every one of them and I love them all."
