Viewfinder: Shoremen Student Section Rocks The House

Welcome to Shoremen basketball season. It’s no secret that this year’s undefeated Avon Lake team – described by one sportswriter as “businesslike” in its success – has become must see.

While the team marches through the SWC, they have plenty of support both on the court and off. We’ve found one of the best pep squads in Northeast Ohio, right in the stands, revving up the crowd.

This groups of white-shirted fanatics are often the loudest bunch in the gym, from taunting opponents with “winning team, losing team” to counting cheerleader Allison Sant's multiple back handsprings (she did 17 before running out of room) across the wood floor.

This week, we’re featuring the Shoremen student section in our viewfinder. We’re sure they’ll be out in full force Friday night when Avon Lake boys basketball team goes for an undefeated season against Brecksville-Broadview Hts. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Avon Lake High School.
