The unofficial results, with 100 percent reporting, was 2241 (68 perecent) in support of Issue 5 and 1048 (32 percent) against.

“As always we appreciate the support,” Scott said. “When we’re at 70 percent it’s solid support. Especially with how the state budget is shaping up.”

If Gov. John Kasich’s budget plan passes, it would shave $4.4 million, annually. “It gives us a nice solid base to work with.”

Scott acknowledged his neighbors to the west, the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake School District in passing their levy as well as the Avon Lake Public Library. The school district works closely with the library on several initiatives.

“I’m really excited for Sheffield-Sheffield Lake,” he said.  “And of course the library, it’s always good to see. They’re a good solid establishment.”
