Warming Stations Open In Lorain County

As dangerous cold rolls into Northeast Ohio, several groups are offering shelter to the county's vulnerable.

LORAIN, OH — With extreme cold rolling into Northeast Ohio, and dangerous wind chills blowing in, warming stations around Lorain County are opening to the public.

The county is also telling residents to dress in layers, stay hydrated, and to check on neighbors and loved ones. Residents should also consider acquiring a backup supply of bottled water and any needed medications.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill warning, for extreme wind chill temperatures, on Tuesday morning. The warning will remain in place through most of Thursday. Wind chill temperatures could plunge as low as -35 or -40 degrees. Temperatures are not expected to rise above the negative range on Wednesday.
